Cartola F.C

Cartola is a way for you to create your own football team online. It was created by SporTV and can be found in globoesporte.com. In Cartola you buy players from any team in the "Campeonato Brasileiro", and depending on how they play you earn more points or lose points. This is updated for every round of the "Campeonato", so it depends on whether the players you have on your team scored goals, made good passes, stealed the ball, and many other factors. Basically by playing very well the players will earn more points and consequently their price goes up, and you earn more money. You can even create your own football club name, crest, and colors. In the cartola you can also create leagues for you an dyour friends to compete and see who has the best team in cartola. Its really cool.

I Can Walk on Water

Liquid Montaineering is a new sport, which is no more than walking on water. It's trying to accomplish what men have tried for centuries. Questioning Jesus himself, this new sport will probably grow extremely fast. Liquid Montaineerin seems easy, but it requires a specific technique. You must first pick up a lot of speed on land, and then enter the water in a curved motion, forming an arc. The water of course must be at the same level as the land so that you can step right into it. It also requires a completely water proof shoe, and once you take your first step into the water you must continue walking in the same rythem. It is not really walking on water because this cannot be done, but running on water is physically possible. Some say that this is complete nonsense and nothing but another illusion or computer trick. I like to believe it's real because running on water would be incredibly cool. If proved to be true it will also raise some questions about Jesus walking on water but this is all very debatable. See Liquid Mountaineering for yourself in this video and come up with your own opinon about this new sport.

Title: Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is an adventure race which involves four different sports. They are: trekking, mountain bike, rapel, and rafting. It's an exilarating experience. To enter you must form teams of four with at least one person of the different sex. There are different categories for different ages. The race is on a Sunday and it happens four times a year, always in different places around São Paulo. Their usually is one race that takes place at the beach. The night before they give you a map for you to plot the checkpoints you must go through. And then Sunday morning the race starts and your by yourself with your team using a compass and the map to guide your way through the forests, rivers and mountains. At some point in the race your team will have to do a rapel and at another point rafting. The night before you usually take your bycicles to a checkpoint so that the next day when you pass there you get them and use them in some legs of the race. The race for my age is around 35 and 45 kilometers total and for the adults its around 50 and 60 kilometers. You start the race at 8 am and usually only arrive between 1 and 4 pm, if you don't get lost. When you arrive your usually covered in mud and exhausted, and many arrive hurt. In the race you also have to take a backpack with food and water for you to eat during the race or else you wont make it. I have participated in this race about 15 times. But have won it only once and got third and second about five times. The prizes are usually pretty good, such as bycicles, tenis shoes and other small prizes. It is hard to describe this race so if you want more information go to its web site here. here.

Neymar's Second Chance

The football star Neymar from Santos will have a second chance to show his skills during a tournament final. In 2009 he had the oppurtunity to play the Paulista final against Corinthians and did not have a good performance. During both final games he made little contribution, and Santos ended up loosing for Corinthians. During this he was 17 years old, and now with still only 18 Neymar has improved a lot and said that he feels more prepared for a final. He is considered the best football player at the moment in Brazil, and is even being considered to go to the South Africa World Cup. Neymar also affirms that the whole team is better prepared then last year, complimenting his teammates effort: Marquinhos, Robinho, Andre, Arouca, and of course the midfield master Paulo Henrique Ganso. Santos will play the tournament final against Santo André in two games, both taking place in Pacaembu. The first game will be this Sunday at 16h, and the second game is next Sunday May 2nd, at the same time. These will both be great games, because whoever's been seeing Santos games, has been seeing beautiful football, and all the players have been playing with great determination. I have no doubt that they want this trophey a lot, especially the upcoming players, such as Neymar, and Paulo Henrique Ganso.

Pelé x Messi

This comparison cannot exist yet. Some football fans are comparing the best football player in history, Pelé, to the best football player at the moment, Messi. Messi is a fantastic, outstanding player no doubt but he is not the best in history. He could be because he is only 22 still but I doubt that he will be better then Pelé. Pelé gave an interview yeaterday joking with the argentinians. He said that once the argentinians decide who is their best player of the century (Maradona or Messi), then when an argentinian makes one thousand goals like Pelé did, then they can do a comparison with him. After this joke Pelé began analyzing and complementing the football Messi has been presenting. He admires Messi quite a lot, and always knew he would be the world's best. Pelé just hopes Messi can show his talent during the world cup playing for Argentina, because he has not been playing as well in the national team like he does in Barcelona.
I in the other hand hopes he doesn't play so well or else if Brazil encounter's Argentina, Lúcio the brazilian defender will have a hard time. But I know Lúcio wouldn't let Messi dribble him so easily.... the ball or Messi can pass but not both.

Ganso....Neymar .....2010 World Cup?

I say YES to Paulo Henrique Ganso in South Africa. He already is a mature and phenomenol player. Just looking at him during the games you can see how focused he is always with a serious look on his face. His brilliant passes and goals are getting everyone's attention, and in my opinion he is the main cause that Santos is doing so well in the Paulista. For me he is the best player in Santos at the moment. Many football fans are thinking Kaka the brazilian star may not do so well in the World Cup, so its essential that he has an exceptional replacement. So along with Ramires and perhaps Julio Baptist, I think Dunga should take Ganso. He has such a privileged view of the game, that many desire, and can be very helpful at South Africa. Ganso really deserves an oppurtunity after his dedication here in Brazil, and many other coaches agree. I dont think Neymar should go because he hasnt been playing for a while and I think Ganso is more objective in field then Neymar. Neymar has to mature a little more, then he should be considered to go to South Africa. In terms of football skill Neymar and Ganso are about the same. I hope Dunga is watching what Ganso's been doing in Brazil, and realize what a hard time he could give to Portugal's defense.

Formula 1 Season Update

After 2 really exciting races, Fernando Alonso(Ferrari) and Felipe Massa(Ferrari) are fighting for the lead. Now Massa is four points behind Alonso which is in first place in the drivers championiship. In the constructors championship Ferrari leads. The already expected electrifying dispute between the two Ferrari drivers is becoming reality. This weekend in the Melbourne Grand Prix, Felipe Massa arrived in third followed be Alonso in fourth after a tough start in the race. Right in the beginning of the race the spaniard touched the rear of another car and spun in the middle of the track falling to last place. But since his Ferrari is a much superior car compared to many others he was able to finish in fourth. In the other hand for Massa this is his best championship beginning. He finished in second in the first race in Bahrein and now in third in Melbourne, being very pleased with this result. He also complemented the work Ferrari`s been doing, also very pleased with the tire pit stop strategy during Melbournes Grand Prix. The three drivers that made the podium this weekend in Melbourne were: 1st Jenson Button, 2nd Kubica and 3rd Felipe Massa(Brazil). I'm still waiting for Schumachaer to do something amazing like in the "old days".

Another Unbelievable Victory

Santos the brazilian team of the year has won another unbelievable match. This Sunday March 21, Santos won the match against Ituano in Pacaembu 9 x 1. Without two main stars of the team Neymar and Robinho, Santos was able to make an outstanding game. After winning another match against Naviraiense 10 x 0, Santos impresses all again with a 9 x 1 victory against Ituano for the "Campeonato Paulista". The scorers for Santos in this match were: Andre(3), Ganso(2), Maicon Leite, Madson(2), Ze Eduardo. Andre is the new lead scorer for Santos with 10 goals followed by Neymar with 9 goals. Andre is the second highest scorer in the tournament so far. Even though Ituano is not a very good and strong team, other big teams from Sao Paulo had some difficulty playing against them also. Sao Paulo won a tough 1 x 0 against them, Palmeiras tied 3 x 3 playing at home, and Corinthians hasn't played them yet. With this victory Santos remains in the lead in the "Campeonato Paulista" with 35 points followed by Santo Andre with 33.

2010 Formula 1

After a pre season filled with doubts the 2010 Formula 1 championship is about to start this weekend. Twelve teams and twenty four drivers are confirmed for the season. Amongst these there are 2 new teams, Hispania and Manor. Driving for Hispania is Brunno Senna, nephew of the 3 times winner Ayrton Senna. Hispania had many difficulties to get sponsers and ended up being sold to one of the partners Jose Ramon. In team Manor another brazilian will be competing for the first time in the F1 championship. He is Lucas di Grassi, former test driver for team Renault. The 2010 championship will have a total of 4 brazilian drivers, Felipe Massa (returning from a serious accident) for Ferrari, Rubinho for Williams, Bruno Senna for Hispania, and Lucas di Grassi for Manor. The other great attraction will be Michael Schumacher, returning to the F1 after a 3 year retirement. He is the greatest winner F1 has ever had. We can always expect great performances from him. For this season there are four teams which are the favorites for first place, Ferrari, Mclaren, RBR, Mercedes. The Bahrain Grand Prix is the first of 19 Grand Prix's. This championship is expected to be the best and most competitive one compared to those of previous years.

Puny Football

This Saturday North Korea, Brazil`s first adversary in the world cup demonstrated puny football in a match against Venezuela. North Korea and Venezuela showed a low skill of technique throughout the match which ended 2 to 1 in favor of Venezuela. Venezuela scored the first goal with a powerful kick made Granados from Venezuela right in the beggining of the game. Then the North Korean team scored in the second half with Inguk, and tied the game. Then in the last minute of the game, Venezuela scored the winning goal because of a pathetic defense of the Noth Koreans. North Koreas own player headed the ball to the goal and made the goalie defend it and then it was easy for the Venezuela to score and win the game.
In this match North Korea had its own uniform, instead of having to use the reserve uniform of the opposing team. They demonstrated a game with a lack of imagination and skill, with simply lots of running. They do not seem to be a threat to Brazil in the world cup, which is great because after their game Brazil will have to play two very strong teams, Ivory Coast and Portugal. North Korea and Brazil will play in Johannesburg June 15 for the world cup.

Ticket prices rise for classic Santos x Corinthians

Santos F.C raised the ticket price for the classic game this Sunday at Vila Belmiro(Santos Stadium) against Corinthians. The worst seats went from R$30 to R$80. This irritated many fans but this change was justified by Luis Alvaro (Santos president). He simply said that when a game brings together so many oustanding players, such as Robinho, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Neymar and others, the expected show should be more expensive. He also reminded that this is a classic that happens over 80 years, and is once more bringing together the best football players in Brazil. Santos president mentioned that in order to maintain a high level squad they need more resources, therefore takes advantage of these great games that everyone wants to watch.
Inspite of using Robinho as one of the reasons for elevating the price, he may not play the classic against Corinthians. Robinho was called to play for the Brazilian national team and should leave on Sunday. But Luis Alvaro is trying to convince the national team to allow Robinho to take a night flight. Dunga appears to have allowed Robinho to fly out later, but Ricardo Teixera (CBF president) still hasn`t decided. All Santos fans are anxiously waiting for his decision, and hoping to see the man of the hour play on Sunday.

Cesar Cielo vs. Frederick Bousquet

These two great swimmers are both rivals and good friends. The brazilian swimmer Cielo currently owns the 50m record, but Bousquet said he will become the fastest swimmer once more. They are practice partners even though they are the greatest rivals in the pool. Bousquet said that every practice now seems like a competition, which has helped them both evolve a lot as fast swimmers. Cielo now has the Olympic gold medal and last year he broke Bousquet record at a competition in Rome. Both swimmers do not enjoy loosing at all, especially Bousquet which is extremely determined to take Cielo`s crown back, but humbly admits that it`ll be a tough task. They trust each other a lot and seem to care for one another. But both said in an interview that inside the pool they become very fierce competitors. Bousquet even said he was glad that Cielo broke his world record and not any other swimmer. Now he can observe Cielo in practice to see if he can get any good tips from the brazilian.

Neymar: the man of the hour

The 17 year old kid of Santos F.C is playing like never before. He turns 18 this week, and will have lots to celebrate. He is the lead scorer in the Paulista Tournament with 6 goals, mostly beautiful goals. And if not scoring a goal in a match he is providing the other players with incredible passes to score. Neymar is fast, skillfull, calm, almost a complete player. He only lack some physical strength but that he will soon develop. He is truly a nightmare for the defense. There is no doubt that various European teams have an eye on the rising star, and sadly for the Santos fans he is most likely to in a couple of years go play in some grand european squad. Coming soon is also Robinho a former Santos player which hoper to improve his football here so that he can go to the world cup. But the question is if Neymar will steal Robinho's attention with all of his incredible performances. We'll see both of them playing probably this Sunday against Sao Paulo a classic in match. I belive that in a couple of years Neymar and Ganso, another amazing Santos player, will be together in the national team. These towo friends are bound to great things in the football world.

Robinho is BACK

The 2002 star of Santos FC is back to the team. Robinho left Santos to play in Real Madrid where he made a fairly good campaign. But later he was transfered to Manchester City where he did not play well at all. He is also in the Brazilian national team, but since he has not been playing very well in Manchester City he may not be called to play the world cup. Now back at Santos he expects to improve his football again to make it to the world cup. The star was greeted with many hugs and laughs at Santos, and is expected to make a difference in the team. The offensive side of Santos now seems to be very strong with Robinho, Neymar, Ganso, and Andre. Robinho is expected to play his first game next Sundaym and will surely have a lot of support from the crowd. We can now only expect the best from Robinho.
